Go Active Spotlight: Jen Wilson Fitness
Buggyfit classes have been taking west Cumbria by storm, thanks to instructor Jen Wilson.
We spoke with her to find out what inspired her to take up the activity and encourage others to get involved.
Yes, I've always enjoyed keeping active. I particularly love walking and being outdoors.
I had the idea to run an outdoor exercise class for mums and babies, and following some research I came across Buggyfit.
Already qualified as a pre and post-natal exercise instructor, I decided that I would like to join the franchise - and it's one of the best things I have ever done! I started the classes in January this year.
Following the birth of my son in 2015 I walked miles every day with the buggy and the dogs. The fresh air and exercise definitely worked wonders for my physical and mental wellbeing.
I didn’t see many other mums out, and I thought it was such a shame that they weren't reaping the benefits I was from being outdoors. It was during this time, while I was on maternity leave, that I decided I wanted to do something to help and motivate other mums, who were struggling to find any time for themselves.
Everything – I've loved meeting all the lovely mums and babies, getting to know everyone, motivating everyone to exercise in a fun way, seeing people make new friends - having that time to themselves even though baby is with them.
Most importantly seeing them leave the class with a smile on their face and saying how much they have enjoyed it and how much better they feel!
There are currently 5 classes running as follows:
No need to worry about childcare!
My advice would be to join!
Buggyfit is all about being available to any mum who has a baby or toddler in a buggy.
There is no pressure or expectation apart from having fun. All the classes are tailored to suit every individual and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace.
